What is Manuka Honey and where does it come from?
The Manuka Tree grows in the remote
rugged isolated regions of New Zealand. The manuka tree is rich in essential
oils in the leaves and bark, and the honey from the flower nectar. The indigenous
people of New Zealand, the Maoris, have used the bark and the leaves of the
manuka tree for centuries as healing remedies. The honey came long after as
bees were only introduced into NZ in 1840. The Maori people used manuka honey
to soothe wounds and gastrointestinal diseases. In the meantime, the rest of
the world has come to recognize the amazing effect of Manuka honey against
bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Manuka honey is produced by placing hives close
to Manuka bushes in full bloom in the pristine wilderness of New Zealand. Some
of these regions are so remote and rugged that they can only be reached by
helicopter, so the hives have to be flown into these pristine virgin locations.
The bees then fly to the flowers in the surrounding area. The aim is to produce
Manuka honey that is as monofloral as possible, as bees generally harvest all
the flowers available to them within a certain radius.
What is the difference between Manuka honey and other local honeys?
Manuka honey has a stronger
creamier richer flavor than other honeys. Manuka honey is a very valuable honey
as it contains many times higher levels of methylglyoxal than any other honey
on the planet. Manuka honey is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial
and anti-viral properties. Methylglyoxal has the property to act as an
antibacterial against multi-resistant germs. Honey native to Europe contains
around 5 milligrams of methylglyoxal per kilogram, whereas Manuka tree honey
contains up to 800 milligrams. In general, Manuka honey is creamy in
consistency and darker in color. The combination of TURNER Manuka honey with
our UAF1000+ superfood plant extracts gives it a more earthy and tart flavor
because our UAF1000+ are plant extracts from nature and they naturally have a
bitter taste, so the combination of our sweet creamy Manuka Honey with our

UAF1000+ plant extracts. In addition, the Manuka bush may have white, pink or

with each batch because our beehives are in different locations around New
Zealand, but this does not affect the quality of the honey.
What is the difference between Monofloral and Multifloral Manuka honey?
Manuka honey can only be called "Manuka honey" if it is "monofloral", meaning most of the honey comes from the Manuka flower. Honey labelled "multifloral Manuka honey" comes mainly from other flowers but also contains a proportion of Manuka honey. What is it about the different factors of Manuka honey and what does UAF1000+ mean?
Many customers are rightly confused by the
multitude of Manuka honey factors and numbers on the market. We at TURNER New
Zealand have thought about how we can clear up the confusion about the various
factors when selling Manuka honey from New Zealand and therefore we let our
beekeeper Murray Bush, whose family has been in the beekeeping business for
over 100 years, gives us the answer directly. Murray explains the following to
us: “All authentic certified NZ Manuka honey has special activity that makes
Manuka honey incredibly unique and powerful as a superfood and skin care
product. Currently there are five descriptions being used to identify this
special Manuka activity along with various numbering systems, that are all
correct in their own way, but confusing to consumers. A simple activity
comparison is the Methylglyoxal level, which is easily compared with other
activity descriptions using online comparison graphs. We use Methylglyoxal
activity testing in accordance with MPI NZ Manuka Standards to authenticate our
Manuka Honey. While very high activity Manuka is incredible for external wound
and skin care, some people find it too harsh to eat. For everyday human
consumption that still provides all the incredible benefits of Manuka, we recommend
Authentic Certified Manuka Honey that has Methylglyoxal independently tested
between 85 and 250.

INGREDIENTS:
Manuka Honey: Manuka honey is honey produced by
bees feeding on the nectar and pollen of the manuka flowers of the Manuka tree.
Traditionally used as a natural remedy, science has been able to prove the

Pine Bark Extract: Pine bark extract is a natural remedy and is extracted from
